We breed 1-2 litters per year as this is all we have time for along with facilities. We try to have at least one litter per year to help out with our yearly expenses. I quite often wonder how breeders have time to crank out 4 or more litters in one month ! This is purely insane for me to even think about doing......but perhaps they hire help?? Spending time with our family is very important so we are not into mass producing pupppies. In your search for a Newfoundland breeder a good question to ask is...........do you raise other breeds of dogs and how many litters they raise per year. Raising "Quality" newfoundlands with winning bloodlines has been a hobby that I take very seriously. We also do all of the OFA health clearances on our dogs before a breeding takes place. We only keep the best and only breed from the best. Because we want the best for our dogs we even sleep up to 5 weeks in the whelping area making sure that the babies do not get laid on. Raising Healthy pups is a 24 hour a day deal where I am on call day or night. This means that your new puppy has been handled every couple hours & is very well socialized. Having only 1 or 2 litters per year allows me to give it my all to your future puppy. This early socialization , love, and attention makes a happy well adjusted family member! We froze semen on Silver Cloud starting back in 2002 and we now have beautiful babies from him & Sugar Bears Dolly Madison.
